Beehive Basin Trail is located near the ski resort town of Big Sky, Montana. It's seven miles round-trip and begins around 8,200 ft. of elevation, finishing at 9,800 ft. Bear sightings are common and bear spray is recommended.
Two miles into the trail I came across this interesting-looking tree standing alone in the meadow.
The first mile of Beehive Basin Trail winds around luxurious winter vacation homes. These estates are on acres of land and have views like the one above of the Madison Mountain Range's evergreen forests. Big Sky has attracted many out-of-state, high-net-worth families over the past decade.
Close to the trail's summit I came across this eerie-looking tree. The weather had been drizzling and foggy all day, producing great conditions to shoot in. I didn't see any wildlife, but maybe that's a good thing since the area's growing grizzly bear population has become problematic.
Near the summit is a series of streams and a lake that make for nice foregrounds in pictures. Hikers can continue up the rocky peak for a better view of this area.
